Occupational Test– It Can Guide You In Picking The Perfect Occupation

Half of the education we get is useful for life irrespective of the kind of profession or career we choose… After the 10’th or 11’th grade, the educational path and career focus converges in a specific direction. The occupational test becomes increasingly important at this point. There are countless examples where famous people changed their career or profession just because they did not love what they previously did. Examples of such people is Ina Garten, Martha Stewart, and Al Franken. Approximately 16.5 percent of the world population psychologically behaves as introverts. This translates into a huge number of people who are unable to express their actual career interests and will require an occupation test for career guidance. A person can never become successful if he spends time and money on education that does not contribute to his preparation of life goals.

Most people choose a profession under peer pressure or due to social norms in a society. Children mostly take majors in which their friends are enrolled in, instead of what they really love to do. This decision later holds them back. Lack of career counseling is another reason for people entering professions they are not passionate about. The professions themselves require a certain skill set. Without these skills or mindset, a person can’t really love a profession or job that he does for a living. The occupation tests are of grave importance especially if a person with great energy is uncertain of the career he must choose.

Now comes a human dilemma that must clearly be sorted out. It is the choice between what we love to do in the present and what is important for career building in the future. Can we really know what will make us happy in the future? Even if we ignore the social advancement and country’s economic condition (such as recessions that force people to change professions), can we really be sure whether the profession we choose will still be relevant to us in coming 15 years? Is there any way to scientifically predict our love for certain professions?

You need an Occupation Test to answer the above questions.

It is provided (with a certain percentage of probability) by psychology. There are different psychological tests formulated to bring out the true traits of personality that are important and often hidden in the subconscious. Based on these traits a professional coach can suggest the most suitable professional carrier for a person. Occupation test can also suggest the kind of profession that might even not exist at the time but can be important in future. Consider the animation designers job or computer programmers in early ’60s. These were not big paying jobs at the time but after a few years, they became extremely important professions. The occupation tests usually reveal personality traits such as skills, drives, limitations, prospects, and ideals. Apart from the above reasons, the following section enlists some more major reasons why one should take an occupation test.

2. You need an “Educational Purpose” to succeed in your future endeavors.

Learning in a formal environment plays an important role in forming the personality of a person. The educational learning in your field of interest eventually leads to excellence in a career. Being able to communicate your ideas clearly, conveying your message the ordinary people and the capability to impress an intellectual audience comes only with proper education. Without the occupational test, a person may be getting an education but he will never be able to excel if his passion and education are not aligned. It is generally accepted fact that everybody has interests. So, there is absolutely no point in learning the stuff that you are never going to utilize in practical life.

3. You see broader employment spectrum once you know your true personality traits.

There are uncertainties in the choice of profession for people who do not first take an occupation test. Whether to work as an employee or seek a professional education first? Work in the industry or the academics? In academics, the uncertainty occurs in deciding whether to be an engineer or scientist? To be a theorist or researcher? These are uncertainties one comes across when a serious choice of employment is faced. The occupation test can help answer these questions effectively.

4. You see your life purpose by discovering your capabilities via an occupation test.

A person who has personality traits of a scientist would waste his life aiming to become a soldier. Taking this test serves some very important things and the purpose of life is the most important of them. Lack of life purpose can cause depression leading to an unhealthy environment and volatile behavior. This is especially true when the majority population is consisting of young people. The data composed 20-30 years ago suggests that an average person of age between 18 and 30 will switch (on average) 10 jobs in a lifetime. And this was at the time when the employment spectrum and profession choice was not as broad in comparison to today. In essence, the occupation test eventually fills you with a sense of being part of something bigger. A person doing a 9-5 job, 5 days a week works for merely a salary at the end of the month. But a person who loves his job, who knows his passion (thanks to an occupational test) contributes to the bigger picture of his field and society. All the pioneers who have done something bigger and worthwhile had this same passion. They either recognized it after failing in many occupations, or they were somehow forced to revert to their passion. If a person takes an occupation test, he can easily avoid these issues.

NOTE: Contains a different career test.  This article discusses how you can pick the right major in college for your career.   What Should I Major In Quiz

5. You can perform your personal SWOT analysis.

A person’s true and effective SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat) analysis can only be revealed by the psychological tests contained in occupational testing. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses not only tells you whom to work for but it also clearly tells you who you need to hire. Nobody is perfect in all fields. Even the most successful people needed the help of others to fill the gaps left by their own weaknesses. The occupational test reveals these personality traits clearly, hence enabling you to effectively take advantage of your strengths.

6. You see your role in society clearly and work as a responsible citizen of the state.

Successful people are remembered in history. It is because of their hard work, passion, and tireless efforts to bring positive change in their society. In turn, society gave them the recognition they rightfully deserve. People who don’t love their job or are not passionate about what they do, never get the status that a successful man can achieve in a very short period. People who take an occupational test choose the profession they love which eventually makes them an authority in their field. Their voice is heard and they are taken seriously in their respective society.

NOTE: Our Free Aptitude Test I think you will enjoy it 🙂

7. You become confident when you take an occupation test.

The test reveals important factors of your personality that can boost your confidence level. They give you the confidence to fight through difficult situations using your capabilities. If a person does not know his ability, he cannot really use it either. One can only polish and effectively use his capabilities if he is aware of them. Without self-awareness, a person cannot function to his fullest.

It is very important to note that a test is like a tool. An effective, useful, blunt, and powerful tool that can be used to choose the right profession to match the person’s capabilities with their profession. The test should be taken at least once in a lifetime to truly focus understand your skills. The outcome of such psychological test always depends upon the way it is interpreted. It is important that the participant provides honest, true and consistent responses so that the outcome reflects the true passion of a person1. It requires the test taker to get the test results interpreted by a professional and qualified career counselor. A highly motivated and effective society can be formed if occupational testing is available at schools, colleges, and employment centers. This will not only decrease the rate of job bouncing due to lack of satisfaction but also it will increase the number of motivated and happy employees. Hope you enjoyed and got something out of my article! 🙂
